Arnold worked in the Western cape Nature Conservation department for 19 years in various roles. In 2002 he left their service and started Chuma safari and Conservation Services specializing in fire investigations and ecotourism developments and tour guiding in SADC countries.
In 2009 he joined Integrated Fire Management Services pty ltd as project manager conducting control fire operations in all the provinces of South Africa. In 2014 he accepted the post as Provincial operations manager – western cape province at Working on Fire Commercial operations.
In 2017 he left the post to and restarted Chuma wildfire and Conservation Services.
Through the years he has obtained various qualifications including National Diploma Nature Conservation; National Higher Diploma Forestry: Conservation; National Higher Certificate in Veldfire management; National Certificate Tourism: Guiding; Certificate in Wildfire Investigation ( Cum Laude); Certificate in Accident and Incident Management; Certificate in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment; Incident Command level 3; L380 Operational leadership; CFEI accredited.
He is a member of National Association of Fire investigators International (NAFI) and International Association of Wildland fire. He is also a shore member of the NSRI.
